I just received the annual call from Yellow Book trying to sell my business advertising space, to which I quickly replied “no thanks”. Which the next response in the sales pitch was “May I ask why not?” To which I replied, “because I don’t need it.”
I’m not all that impressed with the “Cyber Monday” sales (and shipping & financing discounts), but if you want to check out an overview to decide for yourself you can do so at blackfday.com. In my opinion, the best offer is the 20% off certain stores if you use PayPal to checkout (most appear to be capped at $50 or so).
For the first year in I don’t know how long, I did not crawl out of bed in the wee hours of the morning to join in the madness known as Black Friday. The decision was based on the fact that the products which I was really interested in were all available online AND with free shipping. So it just didn’t make sense to join in the madness and leave the comfy confines of my warm bed.
The purchases this year were pretty simple, as I wasn’t after any “big ticket” items or even toys for that matter…
 
This ad is from the coupon section found in the Sunday Indianapolis Star in November 2007. For some reason Thanksgiving ads don’t seem to get much attention as everyone is eager to roll out the Christmas ads the moment Halloween is over. That said, there wasn’t that wide of a selection to choose from. But there are numerous Christmas ones showing up (which I promise not to post until after Thanksgiving).
The “Black Friday” ads for 2007 started to show up a few weeks ago and now that it’s only a little over two weeks away the listings have really started to show up. So for those of you who are interested in this Christmas shopping craze, I’m making a list of sites where you can take a look at the goods well before Thanksgiving Day.

Related, Wal-Mart has already started the “deal wars”, so it’s likely that you’ll be able to snag some good sales before the “official” Christmas shopping season.
